Curvy Plus Size Women Can Run: Don’t Let a Lil Jiggle Stop You

First of all let me start by saying CONGRATULATIONS on your new running journey! I’m proud of you! Running in a curvy, plus size body is no easy feat, but look at you doing it. It’s natural for everything on your body to move when running. A body in motion stays in motion per my limited physics class memories. But for real though, excess fat is loose and jiggles.

Look, I started out running with all this juicy meat jiggling Girl! My thighs, stomach, butt and boobs were justa bouncing all over the place. But like the song say, “…Look at me now…”! I knew I had to start somewhere and jiggling was inevitable. I definitely can shed some light on this topic cause I’m not only the Client, I’m the Curvy Fit Chicks President. I’m in my 4th year of running and will continue for years to come.

One thing that I recommend for running in a curvy big body that jiggles is to:

Accept where you are

Curvyfitsis..You gotta remember where you are in your fitness journey. You work hard doing your workouts. Don’t let your friends, yourself or society dictate how quickly you should get to the next step. Your body knows what best and will go at the right pace to keep you safe. You’re in this curvy fitness journey for life.. enjoy the process. Keep these things in mind:

  1. There is a difference between curvy fat & curvy fit

When I started running I was still curvy fat. I was working hard to transition from curvy fat to curvy fit. If you listened or followed any of the Curvy Fit Chicks social media pages for some years you would’ve heard me making the distinction. It used to be a slogan, helping women go from curvy fat to curvy fit. I am all about authenticity and transparency. I didn’t come out the gate trying to run either. I had been about 1.5 years consistently training before I started running. I knew it would be a challenge. Heck..when my Fitness Trainer told me that it was time and I thought clearly he needed a clarity check. So let’s keep it a buck, it was fear that had me hesitating to run. Fear of what you ask? Fear of looking imperfect, pain, body jiggling and more. I had to face my fears and trust the process. I’m so glad that I did. My fat jiggled and bounced so much I felt like I was moving a ton. My big butt felt like an anchor I was forcing to move against its will, but I kept going. I kept pushing. I knew I could do it. I am doing it and so will you sis.

  2. Your Body is Capable

You can run in your curvy fat/curvy plus size body. It is fully capable of doing so. Accept what it can do and do what you can to the best of your ability. Be confident in your body. It has been with you always and believe in its capacity to run well. It’s one of the reasons why we wear the Curves on the Move shirt.

3. Don’t Sweat Who May Be Looking

Umm Madam…why are you concerned with who might be looking? You are a bootyFULL work of art that commands attention. You are there for the purpose to get your run on and nothing else. Yes they are looking, who said that’s a bad thing? Cause it ain’t! But I’m not gone front like I didn’t feel like all eyes on me in the beginning. Cause let’s be honest…they were, but they can’t help how these hips hypnotize them lol! Seriously though..you must know your goals for your life and what’s most important to you. I was able to dismiss the paranoia and negative head talk because becoming a Warrior was and is my goal. I knew that I had to continually push myself to become fitter and faster. You gotta keep in mind that this is the body you dwell in and that you are doing this for you, your family and your legacy. Don’t let anyone or anything stop you from running. Period.
