How to Care for your Curvy Workout Attire

As a curvy athlete, you not only take care of your body but also the clothing you wear to keep you in good shape. You understand the investment of both money and time it takes to find good curvy workout attire so you can look and perform your best. I get it! If you’re anything like me, you want to get the most out of your investment. Below I’m sharing how I extend the life of my curvy workout attire.

One of the first things I do after a good workout is remove my soiled clothes as soon as possible. I know that I’m not washing them immediately so I lay them out to dry. This allows them to ventilate and not hold in the moisture or the funk.

To Wash Them:

  1. Turn your leggings, shirts and shorts inside out

    a) This is to clean the material that has been closest to your skin

    b) Preserves the integrity of logos, lettering or graphics on the clothes

  2. Make a load of only your curvy workout attire and on easy care setting

  3. Soak them in vinegar for added clean and removal of odors. Sometimes I’ll even add some baking soda to the mix if I feel it needs it. The length of time you choose to soak is at your discretion

  4. Add detergent. I don’t have a preference

To Dry Them:

  1. Hang or lay flat to dry(most ideal)

  2. Dry on easy care. Some dryers have an active wear option you can use.

For Sports Bras:

A good sports bra is hard to find. You especially want to handle them with care. It is best to have several in your wardrobe to get the most life out of them.

Best practice is to Hand wash your sports bra

  • Take off ASAP(It holds lots of sweat. You don’t want that funk getting stuck in it.)

  • Air dry or put in a basin with water and vinegar. When hanging to dry, be sure to close the clasps

**If you choose not to hand wash, put your sports bra in a lingerie bag for added protection. Remember to close the clasps to keep the integrity of the bra. Remove when done and hang to dry or if placing in the dryer, keep it inside the lingerie bag and dry on easy care.
